Hi, I am Carmen, the face behind the ebooks and website of CarmenJean.
I have been self-employed for more than twenty-five years, which means I’ve spent a good portion of my life experimenting, building things, and occasionally learning lessons the hard way.
Over the years I’ve run all sorts of businesses. I’ve sold popcorn and fudge at markets (which is much harder than it sounds when the weather decides not to cooperate), made handcrafted handbags and soap, designed stationery and wedding invitations, worked as a graphic designer and journalist for a local newspaper, photographed cars for a dealership, cleaned and managed a holiday villa, and even worked as a travel planner and concierge for an American holiday company.
In other words, my working life has been varied … but wonderfully chaotic.
But there has always been one constant. I love creating things. Whether it’s a physical product, a digital resource, or a new idea that turns into a business, I’m happiest when I’m building something.
In 2016 my family and I moved to rural Dordogne in France in search of a better way of living. Life here is slower, more connected, and far closer to the values that matter to me: freedom, family, and having the ability to design your own path in life. We have three very opinionated dogs, (the chihuahua very firmly the boss!), and three cats who, despite their confidence, have yet to have an actual impact on the local mouse population! As for me, I have been told I have the French language skills of an over-confident three year old. … I cannot argue with that.
These days my work focuses on digital products and helping people understand how modern tools, especially artificial intelligence, can support and accelerate their businesses.
People often ask me about AI, passive income, and the practical side of starting a business – not the legal paperwork or corporate jargon, but the real questions. How do you turn an idea into a product? How do you build an audience? How do you actually sell something online?
What I’ve learned over the years is that many people already have valuable knowledge they could share. A teacher might create resources for other teachers. A chef might share recipes and techniques. An accountant might teach simple systems that help small businesses stay organised. The opportunities are endless.
The problem isn’t usually the idea. It’s knowing how to turn that knowledge into something people can actually buy.
Today I create digital products and educational resources that help aspiring entrepreneurs do exactly that. I show people how to use AI as a practical business tool, how to develop their ideas into digital products, and how to share those products with the world.
For many of us, the real goal isn’t just making money online – it’s freedom.
Freedom to work from anywhere.
